Ian qualified in Dentistry from the University of Sheffield in 2002, and successfully completed his entrance examination to become a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Edinburgh 2004.

He finished his specialist orthodontic training in 2009. After gaining entry onto the orthodontic specialist list he did higher orthodontic training to enable him to become a consultant, which he completed in 2011.

Ian is a Consultant Orthodontist in Warrington and Runcorn in North Cheshire. He is an examiner and Specialist Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons and has published in a number of peer review journals and presented at different forums including the British Orthodontic Conference.
He also teaches post-graduate dentists to become specialist orthodontists in the Mersey Deanery and is currently doing a Post-graduate Certificate in teaching at Edgehill University.
